How to generate CSR using OPENSSL?

1) Generate Private key
Generate a private Key using OpenSSL command as below.

#openssl genrsa -des3 -out server.key 2048

Generating RSA private key, 2048 bit long modulus

e is 65537 (0x10001)
Enter pass phrase for server.key:

Give the passphrase to the key

The generated key is as follows

2) Generate a Certificate Signing Request

Use below command to generate CSR.
#openssl req -new -key server.key -out server.csr

Fill the required information to generate the csr


3) Remove passphrase from the key.
Always take backup of your existing key
Use the below command to remove passphrase from private key

openssl rsa -in server.key -out server.key
